We're back! In the last couple of weeks we have enjoyed visits from Will's Aunt Erica and Grandma and Grandpa Dickinson. Will loved all of the extra attention! While David's parents were here we took a short trip to Lake LBJ near Austin, TX. We stayed at a really nice resort on the lake. Will got to go for walks through very nicely landscape gardens and he saw lakes and streams, waterfalls, parrots and a flamingo. The weather was pretty nice (though a little windy) and we had a good time. Mommy and Daddy got some time to themselves too!
Will has continued his explorations around the house. He is working on pulling himself up to a standing position on the furniture. He can get up on his knees pretty easily but he hasn't stood up yet. It's dangerous work though- last night he slipped and hit his head on the coffee table. You can see the red mark above his eye in some of these pictures. He's a tough guy though...only cried for a few minutes then he was back at it. We are also practicing walking when we hold on to his hands- he can take steps on his own if we help him balance.
One of his new favorite games is when I give him a spatula or some other utensil and a plastic bowl. He pushes the bowl around the kitchen with the spatula. I've found that this can entertain him for at least a half an hour at a time! Maybe he'll be a hockey player or golfer.
He has been very happy lately. He laughs at just about anything. As long as he gets his naps, he is usually in a very good mood all day long. He's very entertaining. He's making all sorts of new sounds and he seems to have learned that I am "ma ma" and David is "da da." He is also learning to wave hello and good-bye. We're still working on the sippy cup. He can drink out of it when he wants to but he seems to prefer to chew on it then throw it on the ground.
One of our new favorite activities is biking. We got an infant seat that is secured to the front of the bike on the handlebars. Will has a little infant helmet and we've been taking family bike rides around the neighborhood. Will seems to really enjoy it. Sometimes we have to cut it short so that he's not in the sun for too long (80+ degrees here today) but he squeals and laughs while we're riding. The neighborhood pool opens in a week or so and we're excited to take him swimming for the first time too.
Will is getting over a little bit of a cold. Nothing too bad but he's been a little congested (as you can see in some of these pictures, unfortunately). We had a rough night on Thursday but he seems to be feeling better now.
He is also getting a little more friendly with strangers in public. He often smiles and giggles at strangers in restaurants and stores. People often comment on how cute and happy he is. I agree!
