Will continues to enjoy his summer in San Antonio. Since the last post we've made a lot of progress eating "real" food and not baby food. Will is pretty adventurous and will at least try most things. If he doesn't care for something it ends up on the floor pretty quickly, but he usually tries to eat new things. Some of his favorite "big boy" foods include breads, any kind of pasta in sauce, berries, any kind of cheese and soft tortillas. Today at a Mexican restaurant he kept reaching for a lemon wedge that I'd taken out of my drink. I finally gave it to him and he took a few little bites before deciding that he doesn't like eating lemons! His new favorite food is blueberries! As you can see from these pictures- he enjoys blueberries and pasta a lot!
Will has been a pretty good boy over the last few weeks and adjusted well to all of the visitors while I was recovering from my surgery. He can be a handful but hopefully he didn't give them too many problems. We did have to move our coffee table because he discovered that he could climb on top of it and crawl around. And we also had to replace a remote control that he dropped in the toilet. Such a mischievous little man!
His favorite thing to do now is to be pushed in his new Cozy Coupe car. He loves riding around the block or around the house in it! He often insists on it several times a day. He also loves "talking" on phones. He'll hold toy (or real) phones up to his ear, shoulder or neck (it varies) and start chatting away! Sometimes he'll "talk" on other things like spatulas, shoes or other toys that he can hold to his ear. It's hilarious! He doesn't, however, like when he's talking on a phone and it rings! Other toys he likes playing with these days are blocks, puzzles and his large puppy dog stuffed animal.
We've had a great holiday weekend with Aunt Erica and Uncle Kyle. Yesterday we went to the Castroville, TX Fourth of July parade. Will enjoyed the marching band, the fire truck and, of course, all of the doggies in the parade. The weather was actually bearable too, which helped. No fireworks for us tonight though- way past Will's bed time.
Will is getting very close to walking but he just hasn't taken the plunge yet. He can stand well and he'll shift his weight from one foot to the other, but he hasn't attempted any forward progress. We're working with him and hopefully it won't be too much longer.
He is also a lot more communicative than he was just a few weeks ago. He points to things he wants and he seems to understand us when we talk to him (more than he used to anyway). He often barks when we say "doggie." He blows kisses when you blow kisses to him. He says "ho ho ho" when he sees his Santa Claus book (which he loves). He's a fun little boy! Tomorrow he'll be 14 months!
Happy Fourth of July!
